Italian drawings, Florence, Siena, Modena, Bologna

This is the eighth volume in the series Drawings in Swedish Public Collections and the fourth devoted to Italian drawings.

The Nationalmuseum owns one of the most important collections of drawings by Italian masters in the world. For several years now these have been the subject of studies that have so far resulted in their presentation in three books covering Northern Italy together with Venice, Rome and Naples. A final volume dealing with works by artists who were active in Bologna, Florence and Siena is now being produced and publication is expected during 2002. It includes works of art that despite their high quality have, on the whole, been overlooked by international scholars.
