The paradoxes of politics - an introduction to feminist political theory

Feminism presents modern political theory with a powerful challenge. Feminist political theory examines, criticises and reformulates classical political concepts, such as citizenship and democracy. Politics are redefined to encompass issues which have conventionally been seen as non-political: familial relations, the body, sexuality and language.

Feminism thus shows how political theory as well as political practice is grounded on a paradox: Although women have less power than men precisely because of their gender, gender is denied political significance. The Paradoxes of Politics is an introduction to modern feminist political theory. The book is written in English.
